This year is a year of giving for us. 2024 was a brutal year with severe health issues, and causing money issues. Food security, as we learned, is a tough thing to live with, and there are so many in our community that deal with it every single day.
To that end, all my acrylic yarn will be knitted/crocheted into hats, scarves and ear warmers for the homeless in our city. I have a lot of baby yarn too, so we’ve decided to use that for hats, blankets and wee sweaters for the NICU and Maternity ward in our hospital. I do have some that I’m saving to make a full layette set for my nephew’s first born child this spring.
It’s hard, as we are still dealing with health issues, and food security, but it’s better enough that we are giving back.
Today, I’ve also launched my Etsy store, as I have vintage pattern books I’ve scanned to pdf, and want to sell for a little extra cash. I want to make dish cloths and toys to sell as well. This year is going to be busy.
My mum is onboard, which is awesome, as she knits and sews as well. I may even have a few friends who want to do the same thing. I love how our little crafty community is gathering together to help those in need.
Now to figure out where to start … baby stuff or winter stuff? Decisions decisions!
